Crafts Work at Corbenic Camphill Community

Workshops Crafts home page Felting  Opening of New Workshop
In the twice-daily craft workshops, 6 to 8 residents work closely with co-workers and the workshop leader.

We also create backdrops for plays and decorations for festivals...
Activities include weaving, felting, papiér mâché, mosaic, silk painting and willow work.

Working with different textures, smells and colours add to the therapeutic qualities of the craft activity practised.

Residents and co-workers have the opportunity to explore different materials and learn specific craft techniques and skills.

This can be not only therapeutic but also a positive and motivating experience.

Through craft activity fine and gross motor skills may be enhanced and hand eye co-ordination strengthened.

Residents are encouraged to participate in all stages of the different activities and they will do this according to their ability and needs.

Each person including co-workers can express their own creativity, for example by choosing a gift to make for family or friend,

Or to choose the colours when making colourful patterns or pictures with wool, silk painting, mosaic or weaving.

As each craft activity requires concentration and patience we try to create a warm and peaceful atmosphere for everyone to work in

Without forgetting lots of laughter!!
