There are a range of
weekly evening activities such as current affairs, gospel study, badminton
and singing.

Strumming
up a storm
Occasionally a concert or play is held in the hall.
Sometimes we visit the theatre or cinema, celebrate a
birthday.

Celebrating birthdays is always popular
Weekends: everyone who wants to has a long lie in
followed by brunch. Weekend activities vary from long walks,
shopping trips and other outings. Saturday evening the
household come together for Bible Supper.

Sunday mornings: we have either a celebration or service
at Corbenic or people can attend the local church in
Dunkeld, if they so wish.
On Sunday evenings there is a video chosen by each of the
houses in turn.

So what would a typical week be like in
the life of Corbenic?
We have five households,
each consisting of four, five or six residents, one or two houseparents and three or four co-workers.
Residents come
from all over Britain, some from abroad.
Houseparents are employed at Corbenic and most of them live outside the community.
Co-workers are volunteers, often young Europeans, who
live within the community for periods of one or two years.

The Rhythm of Life at Corbenic
Each household's daily structure is very similar and this 'rhythm' of the day is common to all Camphills, forming an important part of the resident's life.
Weekdays: the day begins around 7.00 to 7.30 when everyone gets up; this is followed by a
quiet morning circle and a bible reading or poem before breakfast.
After
breakfast and before work begins at around 9.30, cleaning
and other household tasks are carried out - tidying the
kitchen, cleaning bedrooms.
Workshops:
The day is then divided between two
workshop sessions, the first from 9.30 to 12.30 broken by a tea break, and the second from 3.00 to 5.30 again with a tea break.

Eating together is a key social, communal, spiritual
experience at Corbenic.
Especially when someone is celebrating a birthday and there
is a home-baked cake to savour...
Morning and afternoon workshops are broken by lunch, the
main meal of the day which takes place at 12.45 in all five
houses.
Meals are usually prepared by a mix of co-workers,
house-parents and residents; and given the many
nationalities at Corbenic, the cuisine is varied and
very good indeed.
There then
follows clearing up and then rest hour, where
residents can choose to have a quiet time in their own room
or socialise in the living room.
Workshops finish at 5.30 in time for supper at 6.00.
