At least a dozen mature trees were blown down on Thursday, December 8th, in this one location alone. Here the estate team begin the mammoth task of clearing up and unblocking the drive just past the visitor's car-park....

Well, winter did not so much arrive as descend like the furies...

Although the snow in the first week of December was nothing as compared to the two previous years.

But it was nothing as to what transpired a few days later

Hurricane-force winds blew in on Thursday and permanently left their mark on Corbenic's landscape.

Thanks to Herculean efforts by the estate team - aided by residents, co-workers, volunteers and other workshop staff - the driveway was cleared in a couple of hours.

It should be noted too that Corbenic staff helped keep the Dunkeld-Trochry road open by power-sawing through a number of trees blocking that route last Thursday...well done. Brave too. Conditions were really dangerous.

Dozens of trees were uprooted, the drive was blocked, power was lost

However, nature takes and nature gives. The windfall from this huge storm will be re-cycled for a good long time to come

We will bring you more pictures and commentary shortly...

The clear-up will take weeks - but storms and wild weather are part of life in the Scottish Highlands..

The day after the storm and the estate workshop provides shelter and warmth during a welcome tea-break..
