Winter in the Corbenic Camphill Community Garden

'
Cold winter was howling o'er moor and o'er mountain'
Traditional Scottish folk song

'One kind word can warm three winter months'
Japanese proverb

With encouraging wee signs that the worst of winter may be over, residents and workers have been doing some long-tern planning by creating these classy-looking leaf-mold compost heaps.

Winter arrived early; snow has fallen off and on since the end of October, 2008, with particularly heavy falls in January and February, 2009

At our Advent market our garden produce was eagerly snapped up  - often by repeat customers from previous years

The wintry photos were taken on different days, December, January and February.

Under cover of the tunnels, seeds are germinating with the radical idea that there might be another spring, summer and autumn in a few months time...

Our organic compost is performing its slow transformational miracles..
