Corbenic was founded in 1978 as a training college.

The property was bought from Murthly Estate by Thomas and Anke Weisz. They were members of the Camphill community in Aberdeen and were responding to a need to find new homes for young adults who had outgrown the Camphill Schools.

The property consisted of Drumour Lodge and what is now known as the Cottage.

Corbenic was initially a College for Further Education.

In 1990 Corbenic bought some more land from a neighbouring farmer and with that, the care of the land and the animals became a more prominent part of the community.

Lochran and Iona were build in 1992.

In 1994, due to a shortage of places for adults and the wish of many students to remain in Corbenic, it changed its aim and became an Adult Community.

The woodwork shop was build in 1997, and the garden workshop was extended in 2002.

In 1995 Corbenic Camphill Community, together with Ochil Tower Schools and Camphill Blair Drummond formed the Camphill Central Scotland Trust. The properties of all three communities are held within this Trust.
