Co-workers from earlier on in 2008

Hello

I am Patricia... I have worked in 3 households in Corbenic already, first time in Cottage in the spring 2007... And then I worked during the summers in Mulach and also in Turach..

I always had nice time there...

Corbenic has been my fairy tale :)

My Time At Corbenic

Gitte Møller, Aalborg, Denmark

From Jan 2005 to Aug 2006 a co-worker at Corbenic.

My intentions of going to Scotland to live and work at a Camphill, was first of all to get experience working with adults with special needs. Secondly I wanted to try to stand on my own two feet, and at the same time getting to know another country beyond the usual tourist-surface. With those things I would say I succeeded during my 1½ year at Corbenic.

But I ended up gaining SO much more than that.

Living and working together with the residents and fellow co-workers made me a much more tolerant person - it made me grow. I got my horizons broadened, both inwards and outwards, and being surrounded by all kinds of personalities taught me a genuine respect for people.

An angelic host of co-workers

It was a great experience to be a part of a big vibrant community as a Camphill is, a sense of community both in Corbenic as a whole, but also amongst the co-workers

We all came with different nationalities, backgrounds, experiences and so on, and for a year or so shared work, day offs, ups and downs, weekend trips, parties, daily-life and holidays with the residents, and so much more.

I won’t deny that being a co-worker sometimes can be challenging - since it’s more of a lifestyle than an actual job. But I also know that it really is worthwhile!!!

It’s now been more than three years since I left Corbenic. I often think back on my time there and all the wonderful people I met, several of whom are still keeping in contact across the world.

These people and the challenges we faced together, have played a big part in me becoming who I am today.

A few days ago I heard a saying: Give a year – gain a lifetime!

I think that pretty much sums it up!!
