Music has become a vital source of communication for many of the residents.

Adults with very little means of verbal language can come into the music session and learn to speak together with drums, sound
- games, music-making exercises all specifically created and tailored to individuals needs.

Breathing and voice exercises always begin the sessions and give each individual the opportunity of exploring their voice and using sound to develop language skills with one another.

Music is a vital part of our life and historically its application as a therapeutic and educational tool is well documented.

Seasonal songs and stories, and the celebration of the passing seasons, is a very important part of the communities daily life and ethos.

The weekly sessions provide a focus through the songs and stories of the passing of the year.

The Corbenic Music Group is an established weekly activity for residents and is now in its 6th year.

We offer an hour long group session, working in small intimate groups throughout  a day, usually Fridays.

So for the Corbenic residents' music, song, drumming, making sound and rhythm together are not only essential way
s of communicating with each other, it is also fun and part of the making of a balanced and healthy community.
