Hazel trimmings go to the goats
Daily Life, Workshops

At Corbenic, we are a community who value the environment.
On our walk outing today we were kindly invited to look around a small hydroelectric power plant. Our guide described how the water from up the hill drives a generator to produce enough electricity for 100 homes. The highlight was when one of our residents was invited to press the start button. On pressing the button, the automation began. Slowly the valves opened and the water was able to pass through. We could hear the turbine starting to turn, slowly at first but gradually building, until it reached a steady thrum, generating electricity for the local grid.
