The Thursday Adventure Club

Today our newest walking group had their first outing. The new group fills the gap between the genteel Thursday Ramblers and the hardcore Wednesday Hillwalkers

Walkers from both Day Service and residents went on a full day walk exploring the former railway tunnels on an old railway line on a very hot and sunny day.

The route followed the line of Inverkeithing to Bridge of Earn North British railway. The section used is known as the Glenfarg Line. The engineering involved in creating this line was considerable. Nowadays, the abandoned track bed provides a little known, shaded stroll, with two curving tunnels to provide some adventure. Ideal for a baking hot day.

On the outward journey the walkers used headtorches for the dark tunnel which curves to an unseen exit. The first tunnel is slightly longer at 480m but straighter. The second tunnel is 450m and curves more, so is darker. In the middle of the second tunnel one can see light fore and aft but not the actual opening.
