Corbenic celebrated Scottish poet Robert Burns with a Burns Meal on Monday 26 January. Although from Robert Burns was Ayrshire, we know that he visited nearby Dunkeld and was entertained by famous local fiddler, Neil Gow.
Traditionally, a Burns Supper is celebrated on 25th January, but to allow both resident and day service participation, our celebration was on the Monday lunchtime. Being a lunchtime, the drams on offer were a wee bit softer but still very Scottish.
The Haggis was piped in by Gillian. The rousing Address to a Haggis was given by Stuart. The traditional grace was delivered by Martin and Alastair. The event was enjoyed by all.
Many thanks to all involved in organising, setting up, cooking and clearing away.
This Burns Meal had an added touch of nostalgia. It may be the last time a full community event will held in Drumour Lodge. Next year, we will be celebrating in the new Community Barn, that will allow everyone to sit together rather spread across several rooms. Thank-you to all who have donated to make this possible.
