The Winter Solstice and Christmas provide a welcome break during the darkest days of winter at Corbenic. A chance for some to put their feet up and enjoy some Christmas movies and recover from organising or acting in the Christmas play.

Our Traditional Shepherds' Play
Nativity plays are a tradition loved by all faiths and none. A Nativity play transcends religion, because any new baby represents hope. In the depths of winter, hope is precious. And of course no two Nativity plays are the same. A great Nativity Play feels organic, unpredictable, and not just because of the farm animals.

At Corbenic, the Nativity play offers the chance to dress up and act out a familiar story but with unpredictable improvisation. There is always a sense of expectation and suspense - knowing that at some stage the script will be forgotten, but never knowing when, or how. This year was no exception.
Christmas Day In The Houses
Whilst some of the residents visit family at Christmas, others choose to stay and enjoy a Corbenic Christmas. Residents, volunteers and staff enjoy a special day together. Mullach House enjoyed a Christmas Cake baked by a resident during Bakery Workshop. Lindisfarne House Christmas Dinner was almost full house!
Thank-you to all the volunteers and staff who made Christmas Day so special.
