The Garden Workshop provides residents and day service with lots of meaningful activity but it also relies on our volunteers. Every day is different, with the occasional gentle drama thrown in.

How did that happen? The spade handle snaps from volunteer hard work!
How did that happen? The spade handle snaps from volunteer hard work!

Ossian's live-in volunteer, Chanmin, was up for a challenge of digging out a stubborn tree-stump, hard set against the wall. Clementine, live-in volunteer from Cottage looked on from her weeding station. This could be entertaining?

A determined Chanmin set to work vigorously but was soon left bemused (and Clementine amused) when the spade handle snapped! Fortunately, the Woodwork team can fashion a replacement handle - part of Corbenic's sustainable approach.

Chanmin was undaunted by the spade malfunction. He successfully dug out the offending stump along with some of the roots. Well done Chanmin!

Want To Be A Live-In Volunteer?

Being a live-in volunteer for a year is hard work but hugely rewarding. You will be working alongside other volunteers at the same live stage. It provides an excellent gap year experience, particularly for those intending to study care professions at University or College.

Inspired To Support Corbenic?

Perhaps you are inspired that Corbenic provides meaningful living that supports residents, day service attendees and provides live-changing volunteering opportunities for young people. If you are not in a position to volunteer, perhaps you could support Corbenic with a donation?
