The smell of freshly baked bread fills the corridors around the bakery each morning and deliveries of bread can be seen in swinging baskets around the community. The aim of the bakery workshop is to make a variety of breads for the community tea-breaks and for use in the houses. The productivity extends to providing bread for sale in the Corbenic Shop, local markets and other outlets.


The Corbenic Bakery is actually two workshops. In the morning it runs as the bakery, in the afternoon it turns into the confectionery. Both workshops are joined by one co-worker and three residents, so the morning team is a different team from the one in the afternoon. 

The afternoon workshop shifts to the smell of sweet biscuits wafting down the corridor which are enjoyed by everyone with a cup of tea. We all have our favourites!

In the bakery we work with traditional continental methods, using sourdough and yeast. We are not a certified bakery, but we do use organic ingredients as much as possible.
