Daily Life

At Corbenic we live on the basis of a shared life. In this setting mutual respect and concern for the dignity of each person are actively fostered through ensuring a stable and secure home and work environment. Individuals are encouraged to contribute as much as possible to the life of the Community. Residents live and work side by side with live-in volunteers and employed staff.

Work is seen as an important part of people's lives. It helps to develop people's full potential and bring out their sense of responsibility and dignity.

Our work at Corbenic promotes the development of skills through various workshops. Where appropriate, residents are encouraged to pursue work and learning opportunities outwith the Community.

Life and Work

It is the intention within Camphill communities to enable people to work out of their love for a task, irrespective of financial arrangements.  Work is seen as an activity in which people engage out of a natural desire to give to other human beings and to the earth.  Money is seen as one means to make this possible. It is used to provide for the changing and individual needs of people and situations, rather than as a means of reward or differentiation. Security is derived from human relationships, of which the flexible use of money is one expression.

Each individual can help to create an environment, which reflects an attitude of care and devotion to people and things.
